Just been reading an article in Autocar that has really struck a cord with me and i thought i'd come reflect...
The goverments scrappage scheme is a great idea, taking some of the most miserable cars out of their pitiful existance. But then they also take some of the best cars of the last 10 years and reduce them to nothing but coke cans. And this makes me very sad. I just saw an Astra, same as mine in, it has to be said, much better nick going to the crusha. What on earth is coming of this planet? Its a perfectly usable car, and as Autocar said, a valet would have sorted it.
A shinny blue Civic as well, nothing wrong with it apart from the huge RSJ now heavilt planted in its roof thanks to the low loader that picked it up.
Surely there has to be some way of saving some of these? A really personal car to me, the Ford Escort, one with 20,000 miles on the clock, top of the range spec, completely tidy got flattened.
And who ever traded in a Fiat Brava with 1400 and yes one thousand 400 miles on the clock from new must be more mental than me. Its barely run in and now its being crushed? Sad... Very sad.
Such a waste and such a shame. I'm off to get a Calibra before some barmy man with a crane reduces it to a cube.
